Rati is developing assays, based on peptide aptamers, which are potentially capable not only of detecting cancer markers, but also of distinguishing between conformers of target proteins.  These assays are both optical and electrical in origin.

 

Jo Lenthall

Jo Lenthall is studying at Keble College and her Part II thesis is concerned with the conformational switching of DNA monolayers on gold surfaces induced by electric fields. Outside of the laboratory Jo enjoys playing pool for college, university and county, allbeit with a variable success rate!

Thenuhan is studying at New College and his Part II project is concerned with photoswitchability of mutated bacteriorhdopsin on gold surfaces. When outside of labs Thenuhan enjoys playing football for his MCR college team and relaxing in the college bar.
   

Lindsey van Gemeren

Lindsey started her undergraduate masters in chemistry at Exeter college, Oxford, in 2006. She is now doing her part II project with the Davis group. Her research centres around the development of silica nanoparticles as MRI contrast agents. The aim is to make the nanoparticles targetted and multimodal, with good MRI relaxivity.

Having lived in Belgium before going to university, Lindsey enjoys discovering different cultures and ways of thinking. She also loves getting in to religious discussions, tai chi and singing.
